Bowling Alleys in Louisville: Dangers of Renting Shoes

Bowling Alleys in Louisville

Chances are that when you visit bowling alleys in Louisville you rent a pair of shoes. Bowling shoes are specially designed to protect waxed floors present in bowling alleys. People still rent bowling shoes and sharing shoes carries risks. All kinds of bacteria and fungi live on the foot. People can contract athlete’s foot by sharing footwear in places such as bowling alleys.

One of the biggest concerns in renting shoes at a bowling alley is contracting athlete’s foot. Even without sharing bowling alley shoes, it is expected that nearly 70% of the population will become infected with athlete’s foot at some time in their life.

A number of organisms live on our bodies. These include bacteria and fungi. Most of these microorganisms belong on the body and serve useful purposes.

Athlete’s foot arises when a specific type of fungus begins to multiply on your feet, typically between your toes. The chances of contracting athlete’s foot increases if you perspire heavily, have wet feet for prolonged periods or develop minor skin and nail injuries. Athlete’s foot is contagious and can be passed through shoes, stockings, walking barefoot on shower or pool surfaces or through direct contact.

Symptoms of athlete’s foot are itching, burning, pain or scaling – or no symptoms at all. Some people simply think they have dry skin.

Athlete’s foot fungus can spread to other parts of the body or to your family members. It can spread to hands, toenails, legs, groin, palms or any part of our body. The fungus can weaken the body’s natural barriers and allow bacteria to enter the broken skin, creating a secondary infection.

One way to prevent athlete’s foot is to avoid walking barefoot in locker rooms. Always wear sandals or thongs. Do not share shoes. Avoid renting footwear, such as bowling alley shoes, ice-skating shoes or roller skates. If you must rent equipment, clean your feet as soon as possible afterwards.

You can also contract athlete’s foot in gyms, swimming pools, nail salons and airport security lines.

Once you’ve contacted athlete’s foot, it’s important to keep your feet clean and dry, particularly between the toes. Wash your feet at least twice a day with soap and water. Be sure to dry the area very carefully. Wear clean socks made of cotton and change frequently.

You can purchase over-the-counter antifungal powders and creams to help control infection. If your condition doesn’t respond to over-the-counter anti-fungal medications see your doctor. There are stronger, prescription medications you can take. Antibiotics are sometimes necessary to treat secondary bacterial infections.

E.Coli prevention in Child Care Agencies in Pittsburgh

Child Care Agencies in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is home of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Museum is ranked among the top five natural history museums. The Carnegie museum contains more than 20 galleries and maintains and preserves over 21 million objects and scientific specimen with the intent of instilling a love of our environment, science and nature.

The world of nature is exciting and compelling. Strange though it may sound, childcare agencies are microcosms of a greater ecological system. Organisms and germs congregate in childcare agencies without some of nature’s natural dispersal devices. There are no winds or rainwater to flush and remove dangerous organisms from the contained environment of childcare agencies.

Parents at any location in the United States, including Pittsburgh, might remember the tragic events that occurred last year at a childcare agency in the Pacific Northwest. Four children were infected with a virulent pathogen called E.coli 0157:H7. The pathogen was not believed to have originated from a food source at the childcare agency. Rather it is believed to have been transmitted via ‘human to human’ contact through insufficient hand washing and casual contact.

The childcare agency where the infection took place had sufficient hygiene protocols in place but never the less the bacteria were still able to spread among children in the small facility. Very few E.coli 0157:H bacteria are necessary to transmit the infection.

E.coli 0157:H7 usually makes the ‘news’ in beef product recalls and sometimes fruits and vegetables. In 2009, a national outbreak was tied to commercial cookie dough. E.coli 0157:H7 is naturally found in the intestines of cows. Cattle are immune to the powerful toxin created by these bacteria.  This particular E.coli bacterium causes hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) which affects the blood clotting abilities of the body. Eventually victims succumb to lack of blood flow, with the kidneys typically being the first organs to shut down.

There are no cures or treatments for this illness. Patients undergo dialysis, blood transfusions and sometimes-even transplants. With proper treatment, more than half of patients will recover.  Children fare better than adults do. The best prevention is to cook hamburger and meats well and avoid contact with unclean water.

If someone carrying the bacteria is being looked after at childcare agencies Pittsburgh even the most superb hygiene skills may not be enough to stop the spread of the virulent organism. The best bet is to cook hamburger well and wash fruits and vegetables. That way the organism will not make its way into childcare agencies.

Why don’t Automatic Garage Doors Open: When to call Door and Gate Operating Devices Repair in Phoenix

Locksmith Phoenix

Why would anyone need to find Door & Gate Operating Devices Repair in Phoenix? NeighborhoodScout’s® ranks Phoenix 93rd in safety of all US cities. On a scale of one to 100, (one being safest) Phoenix ranks number 93. Phoenix has a population of 1.5 million people with 82,693 annual property crimes. The ratio of property crimes is 52.41 per 1,000 residents. Performing immediate door and gate operating device repairs can substantially reduce your chances of becoming a victim of property crime. The chances of becoming a victim of property crime in Phoenix are one in nineteen.

One of the most frustrating things that can happen is to get ready for work, bathe, dress and get the kids ready for school only to find the garage door refuses to open. This is the time to call door and gate operating device repair services.

A garage door opener in Phoenix is an electric motor that opens a garage door when we push a button. The button is usually wired into the house’s electrical circuit or a battery driven remote-controlled unit that’s typically kept in the car. Most garage systems consist of both types of devices. The push button sends an infrared or radio signal to the control unit activating an electric motor on a track-and-pulley system. The track and pulley moves the door. Garage door systems typically contain illumination that goes on and off automatically after a programmed amount of time. If the door isn’t working properly, call a local door and gate operating devices repair service.

Several things may go wrong requiring the services of a door and gate operating device repair service. The door may not respond when the remote control or wall button is pressed .The opener may only slightly raise the door. The opener may only close the door. The motor may be struggling without any results. The motor may be running without reaction from the door. The door may open or close incompletely. The door may suddenly reverse when closing. The opener may operate on its own without any command. These are all excellent reasons to contact your door and gate operating devices repair services.

Whenever the door doesn’t open or close, check that the cord is securely plugged into an electrical connection. If the motor is overheated, wait 15 minutes for the motor to cool then try again. If the remote doesn’t cause the door to react, try replacing the batteries. If the door is operating by itself, look for a stuck button on the remote control. If the door reverses while closing, check for an obstruction and remove it. Sometimes a garden tool may have moved into the path of the closing door. If none of these simple solutions work, call your local door and gate operating device repair services.

What is Universal Life Insurance and do I Need It in Cincinnati?

Life Insurance Cincinnati

Cincinnati is home to the Cincinnati Reds with beautiful bridges and scenic hills. Living in Cincinnati is living in the heartland and why should you think about life insurance? The reason is that even living in a beautiful setting cannot stop bad things in life from knocking at your door. Illness and tragedy can strike at any time and the best preparation is a sound life insurance policy.

Many people raise their eyebrows when the words, “life insurance” are spoken. Very few people are eager and ready to discuss life insurance. Although it is horrible to consider that an unforeseen calamity could remove income from your life, it is far worse to live that experience. The world is full of illness, traffic accidents and heart attacks. None of us are immune and as the old saying goes, “nobody makes it out of life, alive.”

There are three primary types of life insurance, term life, whole life and variable life. Each type has its plus and minuses. Term life Cincinnati is a very simple type of life insurance. You pay a fixed price for a fixed amount of time for a fixed payout. When your time (term) is up, your policy may be renewed. It is typically renewed at a much more expensive rate. Whole life insurance has a fixed price, lasts a lifetime, cannot be revoked and guarantees an additional cash value (much like a savings account).

The third type of life insurance is called variable life. Variable life insurance is a combination of permanent life insurance with a savings account. You may invest these savings in stocks, bonds, money market accounts or mutual funds. One portion of your payment (premium) goes to pay for life insurance. Another portion of your payment goes into this savings account.

Just as with the stock market, these investments carry risk. The cash value and death benefit may accumulate more quickly than a whole life policy. However, if your selections of stocks, bonds, money market accounts or mutual funds do not perform well your death benefit may decrease (although never below a guaranteed minimum).

You may not withdraw from the cash value of this life insurance policy during your lifetime. The policy and earnings are not taxed until the policy is surrendered and you may apply your earnings toward your policy payments.

Variable life insurance requires knowledge of portfolio investments and is not for the novice investor searching for a simple type of life insurance. For those with greater experience, variable life insurance provides additional options and benefits over other types of policies.

Health Spas in Philadelphia: Why get a Hot Stone Massage?

health spas in Philadelphia

Hot stone massage therapy can be found in many health spas in Philadelphia. Hot stone massage therapy is a massage that uses smooth, flat, heated rocks placed at key points on the body. Stones are heated in water between 120F to 150F and placed on the body, usually on the back. The hot stones of varying sizes can be placed in other locations on the body. Sometimes they are placed between the toes or in the palms of the hands.

Health spas offer many forms of massage. Hot stone massage has been known since ancient Chinese times but was rediscovered in 1993 by Mary Nelson, a native of Tucson Arizona. Her stone massage therapy has been trademarked as "LaStone" Therapy. Her massage therapy requires training and certification.

The direct heat of the rocks causes muscles to relax and allows the therapist to apply deeper massages in a gentler manner. The stones are coated in fragrant oils. The oil allows the stone to be worked along the body by the therapist's hands. Many therapists at health spas will alternate the application of warm stones with frozen or cold marble stones. This is designed to stimulate the nervous system. The hot stones expand the blood vessels and the cold ones constrict them. The warm stones are relaxing and the cold stones are stimulating.

The combination of warmth and coolness is thought to encourage the body to detoxify and heal. It does this by increasing lymph flow and flushing out waste.

Prior to having a hot stone massage at a health spa, avoid heavy meals. Talk to your therapist about any medical conditions or allergies you might have. Definitely tell the therapist if you are pregnant. Hot stone massage is not safe for diabetics, people with high blood pressure, heart disease or are on blood thinner medication. Pregnant woman should not get hot stone massages.

The warm, oiled stones are placed on many different acupressure points around your body. Tiny stones might even be placed between your toes. Your therapist will use a variety of strokes and techniques to massage you both with the stones and with her hands. The stones will alternate between hot basalt stones and colder marble stones.

Hot stone massages at health clubs are more expensive than basic Swedish massages. The massage usually takes 60 to 90 minutes and the price runs from $125-$150 but can go higher.

Hot stone massages are relaxing and refreshing therapies that have been used to treat the human body since ancient times.

Using Insurance Agents to select Long Term Care Insurance in Detroit

Insurance Agent Detroit

Detroit is the birthplace of mass-production automobile manufacturing and is known as Motor City. It is also home to the ‘Motown sound’. The city of Detroit has a rich musical heritage. In addition to its mechanical and musical heritage, Detroit also has its share of dedicated, professional insurance agents ready to assist in purchasing insurance products of any kind.
Detroit has its share of people in economic difficulty especially with current economic conditions. Whenever possible its best to work with an insurance agent to select long-term care insurance.
If you are considering long-term care insurance, you should check with a qualified insurance agent to determine if you afford this type of coverage or if the policy you are considering meets necessary standards. Find an insurance agent or broker highly trained in this product. One certification for insurance agents is offered by the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC). CLTC is dedicated to training insurance agents to solve clients’ long-term care needs.
Long-term care insurance (LTC or LTCI) is an insurance product sold to provide for the cost of long-term care that is not covered by health insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. An insurance agent can assist in selecting the best possible plan to suit your needs. This product is extremely complex and the premiums are very expensive.
You will want to work with an insurance agent in Detroit who represents a number of insurance carriers so that you can select from a number of policies.
Long-term care presents a dilemma in this country. People are living longer, becoming more debilitated and the cost of their care is skyrocketing. In days past people looked after their aged family members and perhaps, we are rapidly approaching that time, again.
People needing long-term care typically are not sick but are unable to perform the activities of daily living such as getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, eating and using the toilet.
Long-term care generally covers home care, assisted living, adult daycare, respite care, hospice care, nursing homes and Alzheimer’s facilities. Home care coverage also allows for care in the home. This includes visiting or live-in caregivers, companions, housekeepers or private duty nurses, 24/7 up to the policy maximum. Insurance agents can help explain the coverage.
Medicaid generally does not cover the cost of assisted living although it will pay for medically necessary services for people with limited income.
With anticipated cuts in Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid ‘long term care insurance’ might fill a valuable need. An even better idea might be to place a thick rug in the garage and move ‘grannie’ home.
